International roundup: Mexico City and Hollywood award $6 million bonuses
Perez and Salazar lead the latest signings; Jamaica adds Martinez for $5.14 million.
Mexico City and Hollywood each awarded a $6 million international amateur signing bonus on January 18: shortstop David Perez joined the Axolotl, and starting pitcher Javy Salazar joined the Stars. Both players are from the Dominican Republic and signed minor league contracts.
Jamaica’s $5.14 million bonus for Dominican center fielder Alex Martinez on January 22 and Phoenix’s $4.2 million bonus for Venezuelan left fielder Israel Menendez on January 20 were other substantial commitments in the latest signing stretch.
