Miami’s Jose Padilla faces another six to seven months out

A specialist found more damage as the starter recovered from a ruptured bicep tendon.

Miami starting pitcher Jose Padilla faces an additional six to seven months out after a setback in his recovery from a ruptured bicep tendon, according to the league’s December 24 injury report.

Padilla had been working with the Flamingos’ medical staff before being sent to a specialist as a precaution. The examination found more damage than initially believed.

The December 24 report said Padilla was expected to undergo surgery in Miami, Florida, the following day. It did not confirm that the operation had taken place.

Padilla has a career record of 18–18 with a 3.70 ERA. The revised recovery outlook extends Miami’s wait for the starter’s return.
