Ohio lands Eddy Fernandez in $10.5 million deal
The Hellbenders acquire the veteran catcher from newly crowned champion Hollywood.
Two days after Hollywood clinched the PABL title, Eddy Fernandez had a new club. Ohio acquired the 32-year-old catcher from the Stars on October 25, sending $10.5 million in cash to Hollywood.
Fernandez hit .285 with six home runs and 39 RBI in 88 regular-season games for the Stars. He finished with 2.5 WAR, giving the Hellbenders a veteran addition with recent major-league production.
Hollywood receives cash in the exchange; no players or draft picks are listed going back to the Stars. Ohio, meanwhile, gets a catcher coming straight out of a championship season.
